As Noorilim Park continues to expand this year saw the farm present its first ever draft at the Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast. We presented 9 quality yearlings and were delighted with the results we achieved. Our sale was highlighted by the Dissident ex Top Classic filly who brought $200,000 to the bid of Team Maher and David Redvers. An outstanding result for the first season sire and a great way for us to debut on the Coast. The reports on this filly so far have been excellent and I’m eager to see her progress on the racetrack. A very classy filly indeed!
Another of our yearlings that captured the attention was a brown colt by Wandjina out of a Pentire mare Pentolite. The action on this colt was sublime and he had a huge amount of presence whenever he walked out of his box. It was a fantastic result to see him knock down for $180,000 to the bid of Boomer Bloodstock and Cumani Racing. I have no doubt that they will have some fun with this horse in the future.
The sales ring action continued for Team Noorilim on the Gold Coast but this time it was on the buying bench with Peter putting up a strong fight for a beautiful I Am Invincible filly out of Calamity. The hammer finally fell at $500,000 with the farm teaming up with Maher Racing to secure her. It has always been the aim of the farm to secure quality fillies with pedigree and physique and this girl ticked all the boxes. Being out of a half-sister to Sizzling she could be the one we have been looking for, from all reports she seems to be flying through the initial stages and there’s an air of excitement surrounding her.
As the year went on more purchases were made at the Melbourne Premier sale when a brown colt by Zoustar caught all our attention. Foot perfect the entire sale and an incredibly athletic individual he was a horse we had to have. The bidding finally stalled at $360,000 with the farm teaming up with Spicer Thoroughbreds to purchase the colt. Brad has been a big supporter of the farm over the past couple of years, so it was nice to combine on such a quality individual. Here’s hoping he’s the next Starspangledbanner!
The sales season continued into 2018 with the Inglis Sydney Easter sale in April. It was here a Fastnet Rock filly caught the eye of Peter and she was one that was always going to come home. Another partner ship with Ciaron Maher Racing saw the bid eventually fall at $680,000 and Peter was beaming. You don’t have to look too far into her pedigree to see why he had his heart set on her. Already the half-sister to a Grp 3 winner No More Tears. This filly hails from a blue-blooded family responsible for champions Hips Don’t Lie, Lake Geneva and Weatherly to name a few. She will be a huge asset to our broodmare band.
On the home front 2018 has seen several improvements being made to the farm. A new homestead has been added and the landscaping work continues to create what will be an idyllic setting. Plans are now underway to implement irrigation of the home side of the farm ensuring we have green pastures all year round.
It has been a big year to date, with foaling just around the corner!
Noorilim Estate was purchased by owner-breeder Peter Carrick in 2006 and has been developed into a state of the art facility. Nestled on the banks of the Goulburn River it is an ideal natural habitat for horses to develop.
